Health Equity and Beyond is a lab and learning community based at University of California, Santa Cruz. It is led by Assistant Professor Alicia Riley of the Department of Sociology and the Global and Community Health Program. We conduct mixed-methods research on questions at the intersections of sociology, epidemiology, and community health through a team-based approach. We also engage in conversations about research, policy, and organizing through public events, public writing, journal clubs, and more.
We aim to generate and share evidence about the emergence, persistence, and modifiability of population health inequities that is relevant to community-led struggles to build power for health equity.
